Alcoa:

Alcoa is the world’s largest producer of aluminum and mining bauxite. They employ over 59 000 people in 31 countries. It produces 75% of all aluminum globally and its Flexible Packaging Division posted sales over 6 billion dollars in 2004. Alcoa has been an innovator in the aerospace, automotive, packaging, building and construction, commercial transportation, consumer electronics industries over the past 120 years. Sales in 2010 toped $21 Billion.

In 2004, Alcoa’s Director of Marketing for their Flexible Packaging Division engaged The Professional Writer to help their marketing department improve its profile. Working closely with its web designers we interviewed Alcoa’s technical support staff profiling their biographies for a corporate website. These biographies outlined the expertise and experience possessed by these highly skilled individuals responsible for maintaining their multi-million dollar electronic systems internationally.

The work with Alcoa included a brochure detailing these staff members, their skills and the variety of products and services offered to its suppliers and perspective clients.

In addition we prepared several articles on behalf of Alcoa’s senior staff for the industries trade publication “Packaging Digest Magazine.” The scope of the work included interviews with some of Alcoa’s clients, senior product managers, and conference calls with some of the company’s larges clients.

CIBC (The Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce):

CIBC is ranked as one of the top 100 banks in the world with over $30 Billion U.S. in market capital. With over 11 million clients and 40 000 employees its global reach impacts financial markets in most countries around the world.

Its corporate communications department engaged The Professional Writer to prepare a speech on behalf of the President of “CIBC Worldwide” to be delivered to the Federal Reserve Board of Examiners. Periodically major banks are extended the honor of making presentations to this US government agency. It was our task to write a speech about global banking and the challenges that major banks face in the twenty first century. Working closely with Bob Cole, head of Corporate Communications, The Professional Writer created several drafts of this speech before completing the final delivered address.

On many occasions we wrote press releases introducing new financial products aimed at both business and individual personal banking clients. These press releases were initially drafted for the corporate communications department, but were ultimately submitted to divisional directors and bank managers for their input and approval.

On several occasions we consulted with senior staff members regarding new product launches, and corporate identity branding. Typically this would entail us examining bank documents, and making recommendations to the corporate communications department and senior divisional managers. These public relations strategies were marketed directly to business news publications and financial news networks.

Banco Excel Economico:

Established in 1990 Banco Excel merged with Brazil’s oldest bank, Banco Economico in 1996. With 232 branch locations worldwide Banco Excel Economico became one of Brazil’s leading commercial and retail banks until its purchase in 1998 by Spain’s Banco Bilbao Vizcay.

Banco Excel, a Brazilian bank with offices in New York contacted The Professional Writer requesting an interim biannual financial report during its early stages of establishing a presence in the New York City banking market. In less than 10 days a team of 10 specialists worked day and night producing this report. The Professional Writer turned out this report in a 4 color flip chart prepared for board directors and senior management. Working with a team of graphic artists and editors we crafted a compelling 30 page brochure that was a significant marketing tool for new client development. We later created a private banking brochure for individuals and corporations with a net worth in excess of one $125 million.

The Royal Bank of Canada (RBC)

The Royal Bank of Canada is one of the largest banks in the world based on market capitalization. They provide personal and commercial banking services, wealth management services, insurance, corporate and investment banking services globally. They employ 74 000 employees serving close to 15 million personal, business, public sector and institutional clients through offices in Canada, the US and 55 other countries.

Mark Standish President and co-CEO of RBC Capital Markets requested a speech written by The Professional Writer to be delivered an annual meeting of board members and shareholders. We developed a series of drafts of this speech vetted and modified by their U.S Corporate offices and ultimately delivered at the Friar’s Club in New York City.
